Adrian Clutario throws a Filipino party for their younger “ma’arte” and “bakla” self. Clutario’s solo exhibition Dahil Sa Iyo (Because of You) honors and straddles the tension of their queer adolescence as a second-gen Filipino-American. Dahil Sa Iyo revisits and reinterprets the nuances of their young queerness amidst their Catholic upbringing, set in the homogenous suburban San Fernando Valley. Clutario aims to create corrective fragments of their past, and to soothe the pressures of second-generational immigrant guilt. Clutario offers this exhibition as a gesture of gratitude for their biological parents, Heidi and Pascual Clutario, celebrating their achievements.

Incline Gallery is honored to present Clutario's solo exhibition, "Dahil Sa Iyo (Because of You)." Support for "Dahil Sa Iyo" is provided by Southern Exposure’s Alternative Exposure Grant Program. Incline Gallery was honored to be selected as one of the grantees in Round 13 of the Grant, back in fall of 2019. Our vision for this grant is to support emerging artists by giving them a solo exhibition and an opportunity to partner up with other organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Join us at Adobe Books & Arts Cooperative on Friday, August 12th, for our programming event "Gutom Ka Na." Make sure to by during our gallery hours (Weekends from 1-5pm) or make an appointment before the exhibition ends!
